Attended the 40-hour certification course at Mira Costa College which covered several aspects of solar electric including safety, basic electricity, hardware and mounting, and system considerations and sizing.
The course included a hands-on portion where we constructed a fully operational PV system.

Studied Army leadership doctrine and principles for use in combat and non-combat situations. Course work was studied in a classroom environment and then implemented in an extended field exercise that included individual skills tests and simulated combat leadership exercises.

Mastered and implemented a wide range of sales techniques while conducting in-home sales of energy efficient door systems, replacement windows and coating systems. Advantages of our products included safety and security, updated look, low maintenance, superior living comfort and energy savings. I also sold on other topics including the company’s outstanding workmanship record, ROI and excellent warranties.
This position required a high level of motivation and enthusiasm as well as dedication to professionalism as I was responsible for the entire sales process including negotiation and contract writing under virtually no supervision. Achieved a 31% closing ratio of full presentation sits.
Energy Efficiency Consultant, Next Energy Solar, Concord, CA 2009
Performed in-home energy audits for homeowners and made recommendations on simple ways to lower utility bills. After making recommendations I discussed the advantages of solar and scheduled a solar consultation. This position required determination and persistence because I was responsible for generating all my own leads through canvassing and networking.
Worked as part of a three-man team responsible for creating this new position for the company.

Performed energy audits for University department offices. Evaluated current energy use and recommended ways to reduce office energy consumption as well as create a healthier, more productive office environment.
General Laborer, A1 Electrical, Oceanside, CA 2004
Worked as a laborer for an electrical contractor on a large textile facility where we were installing large lighting systems. I was responsible for cutting and mounting the racking bars, running the wire and mounting and connecting the individual lights.
Job involved working with power tools, hand tools, electrical equipment and heights.
Combat Engineer, US Army Reserve, Camp Pendleton, CA 2002-Present
Specialized training in various forms of construction including fortifications, fencing, roads and bridges. Also trained in building and deploying demolition systems, explosive traps as well as laying and clearing mines.
Deployed to Sinai, Egypt in support of Operation Enduring Freedom for all of 2005.
